Car won't start!
Hey today I think I may have done the most retarded thing I can think of. I started my car then i thought "Oh yea lemme put that belt conditioner on now". I turned my car off after like 45 seconds of it running. I went sprayed the conditioner on then I thought "Oh maybe i should bump the engine so i can get to the other sides of the belt easier". So I bumped it once and went to bump it again and nothing. I tried to start it a few more times I can hear the click from the ignition (i'm guessing) but nothing else. I check the fuse and it was blown so i replace it try to start it again and nothing... not even a click. I checked the fuse again and it's good but still nothing. Please tell me i didn't mess my starter up or maybe even soemthing worse.
![]() Oh yea it's an 88 caprice and feel free to tell me how dumb I am. On can it says do not use while parts are energized or car is running. Then it says do not use while switch is in the "On" position. Last edited by EngineandJuice; 03-21-2008 at 06:55 PM. |

Re: Car won't start!
Ok so I got the starter, battery and alternator checked and they all passed. All the lights and chimes come on when i turn the key just no clicking or turning of the starter. So could it be the ignition?

It's dark now and everything is still off the car but i'll check in the morning when i put everything back on.
If that is the case how do I solve that? |

What happens is that on side post batteries, the terminal can break internally, causing the battery to simply not work. If the headlights DO come on, then I would look in one of two areas in the following order: 1, neutral safety switch (on the top of the column, just behind the firewall) 2, ignition switch (behind the neutral safety switch).
