07 2500 chev diesel, traction problem
Fisrt diesel I have ever owned, love it but I get poor traction at the rear wheels even with the locking diff. I find the problem mostly in the snow. I spend a lot of time ice fishing so I am on the lakes a lot. With about two" of snow I have to use four wheel drive other wise I just get stuck. Also if I manage to keep it going I get a lot of rear wheel hop, which makes for a very bumpy ride.
Now I know that this truck is about 2000 lbs heavier than a gas and I am assuming most of that weight is over the front tires, which is giving me the problem? Would adding weight over the rear wheel help to get better traction and eliminate the wheel hop?

Re: 07 2500 chev diesel, traction problem
Your getting alot more torque with a deisel, and on the snow would make it very easy to break the tires loose. I dont think your encountering a problem per say, its more of a deisel characteristic.

You might need a more aggressive tire as well...

Yes weight in the rear is the best answer.
Try some sand bags in rear of bed. Also a box of sand and shovel to spread a little sand helps if you get stuck on the ice. MT

I'm amazed you get any traction. My 6.0 gas motor spins them if there's anything on the road. |
