New Duals Pics
In one of the forums about headers the conversation went to crossmembers and I had mentioned I bought a crossmember from Bowtie Overdrives and said i was putting headers and duals on my 91 wagon. So here are some pics of the exhaust and the crossmember for those wondering how the duals fit with this crossmember.

Re: New Duals Pics
Yeak mine's the same way with the rust underneith... thats why I stopped driving mine in the winter. Salt will eat up a car like nothing. Thats probably what all the white is in the pictures. At least the body's all good.
By the way, how much did that tranny crossmember cost?

Re: New Duals Pics
Did you have to bend up your drivers side floorboard for that crossmember? It appears they still had to bend the pipes down a little to clear the crossmember too, is the arch on this aftermarket xmember not as extreme as a stock dual crossmember out of a later model Caprice (94-69 I believe)?

Re: New Duals Pics
The xmember was 170 bucks and came with a tranny mount and all of the bolts for installation. The exhaust was bent to go underneath the xmember a little bit but that was because of the angle of the cutouts. There would have been ground clearence issues if they weren't bent. The floor on my car didn't have to be bent or modified at all to fit the xmember. As far as the difference with this xmember and the dual exhaust xmember i really don't know. I had alot of trouble finding a dual xmember from a stock car even though i had one about 4 months ago. This one was just a direct bolt up and easy to find so i went with it. I did have to put a few shims by the trans mount to get the driveshaft angle back to ideal but that could be done with a few washers.

Re: New Duals Pics
I have to get pics of my new duals on here too, i dont think they had to bend my driver's side floor, but you can see they flattened the pipe instead on mine, if you look at my car from the rear under you can see the driver side pipe sticking down

Re: New Duals Pics
I got my dual exhaust done last week and was really happy with the work the exhaust shop did. After lots of ideas about what to do crossmember wise this shop came up with the best idea I'd heard.
I swapped my 200r4 for a 700r4 and in doing that swap I had to also change the crossmember (and driveline, all came from the same donor car). Well luckily I kept my 200r4 crossmember around and here's what the exhaust shop did: They cut my 700 crossmember just left of the trani-mount bracket. Then they took my 200 crossmember and cut it just right of the trani-mount bracket. Then they flipped it around and welded it to the 700 crossmember and put a couple new holes in the frame for the left side mount location and now I've got a nice dual hump crossmember and the pipes are tucked under nice and clean. I'll post pics once I get 'em.

Re: New Duals Pics
Yah the 200r4 was part of the 700r4 rebuild....some $$$ plus the 200r4 got me a rebuilt 700r4 that'll handle 400 hp.

Re: New Duals Pics
I can't really compare because the car never ran good when the 200 was in it anyway. The 700 I'm not 100% sure about yet either, one reason is it likes to do about 80 in overdrive, anything under 75 and it feels like it wants to downshift. I'm having the rearend rebuilt sometime in the near future so I'll probably counter that out, don't want no more speeding tickets just trying to get 15mpg's out of this thing.

Re: New Duals Pics
For only 15 MPG you should hopefully get a whole lot of get up and go.
