2000 Yukon, Cruise works but no dash light. Tow Haul ntermittent.

2000 YUKON. Had since new. 175 k miles. Cruise works, but the dash light does not come on. On the opposite side of the column is the tow/haul switch. Tow/ haul comes on intermittently. The light illuminates and you can tell by the way the shift feels that the vehicle is indeed in tow/haul mode. However, pushing the tow/haul switch has no effect in either turning it on or turning it off. Either you have to stop and shut off the vehicle, or sometimes, if you shift to low and mess around and jiggle a bit, it will go off. Must be broken / shorted wire or something.

1. What gets replaced to fix the tow/haul problem?
2. What about the cruise? Can this be related? It seems that both things started at the same time.
