Question Keyless entry not available?

I don't have a Keyless entry option on my 00' Malibu.

I tried to get it installed by the authorized GM Dealer, but the guy told me I couldn't get it done because my car doesn't that option, so it doesn't have the wiring for that.

Although, he told me if I'd go anywhere else I could get that easily done, BUT that would probably mess up all the wiring on my car, and it could even caugh on fire.

Is he really trying to scare the young girl who doesn't know sh** about cars (me), or is that really true?

I really want to get that done, cause it sucks to open the door with the key, and everybody else have to wait, till I get in and unlock all doors.

THANKS!

Re: Keyless entry not available?

Hello, and welcome to the forums. As far as I know if your car doesn't have the factory keyless option you will not be able to get the keyless feature without spending a bunch of money because you would need to install a new body control module and other parts. If your car is equipped with power door locks I don't see any reason why an after market alarm kit wouldn't work. You might want to check some shops that install alarms and see what they say.
