02 lse hood not latching

My hood wont latch. It moves past the unlatch lever but wont click shut and it opens back up. What do I do.

Have you tried moving the release cable to see where it gets stuck?

I live in a very dusty area, this problem haunts me regularly. I have to clean the latch pivot points and give it a small shot of lube occasionally.

I also vote for cleaning and lubing the latch. If you have a large screwdriver, try to "fake" the hood latch using the screwdriver shaft in place of the hood striker. Does the latch operate freely? Does it latch?

I don't like to argue with my hood either!
1) Bring the hood down around a foot from the latch.
2) Using the palms of your hands and the frnt edge of hood slam it down.
, That sounds like a new hook for a song. ''Slam it down'' or
''Bring the Hood down''

Note: I like using white lithium spray grease for door hinges.
