Anyone in here have a blown max??

My first upgrade is going to be a supercharger. I know I need a heavy duty clutch for this - but I don't know what else I need to do to ensure my car can handle the extra power. Do I need to change out the injectors?? What other mods will help maximize the power created by the supercharger?

Has anyone done it??

I was also wondering about the airflow to the supercharger and about CAI in general. A couple of question on that:

I have read that people are torn between a shorter intake pipe for their air (thereby having hot engine air intake) and a cold air system that calls for a longer pipe. My question is this - if you want a short pipe and a cold air intake what is to stop you from modifying your hood a bit for a "cowl induction" type of system? Maybe a mini-scoop or something like that? Ok,ok I know that would blow the whole "sleeper" image of the max, but realistically isn't through the hood the fastest way to solve the short pipe/ cold air problem??

I do TRY to be humorous in most of my posts JBL. I think maybe you just take some of it a little too personally.

Ya, I have the exhaust part all figured out tho - that is pretty much explained in the forums like a million times over. Its just that I want to have all my facts and such straight before I get myself into a $6k supercharger mod

Go to maximadriver.com and look at Cheston's tips for adding mods and any other bolt on you want to add to your Max.

Don't get a supercharger. DON'T. It is the most non-reliable mod on a Max. Save the money and buy a turbo. Superchargers suck. I have never found a cowl induction hood and intake for a Max.

i have to agree get a turbocharger it will cost a bit more but in the end you'll enjoy it more, plus going the turbo route will give more hp than the same amount of boost with a supercharger

I wonder what Cheston would say about that - regret the turbo vs the super? Maybe he will look in here and comment. I was thinking a supercharger would provide a smoother power curve than a turbo. The car already has a tendency to break free from the asphalt as it is, a huge sudden turbo boost would add a lot more management to that - although I can't claim to know that for sure as I still have my stock rubber on it.

I guess everyone is trying to point out the adiabatic efficiency of the SC as opposed to the Turbo, the ratings on the SC's hover somewhere around 80-88 percent, whereas the Turbos are running in the 90-97% efficiency rating. Besides the one well known V1 SC from Stealin has been known to have some problems with breakage.

Albeit though the SC's don't have the lag of turbo due to their set-up and non dependency on spent gases. All in all I'd have to agree with the fellaz on this one, for as much as you'd pay for the SC set-up you can just about get a Turbo, plus you can add a better Boost controller and run your set-up according to your liking.

Good luck with the choice, although I'd be willing to bet that Cheston will tell you to Turbo that biatch too.

Don't have any performance stats but I have a general area of Turbohp vs SChp:

Turbo=480chp
SC=380+chp

Those are general numbers and not necessarily what every Max with similar set-ups are making.
