HU restarts??
I had a new problem arise tonight. Not sure if this is completely the right place for this post, but Every time my engine hits about 4500 rpms and sometimes at 2500 rpms, my tach usually twitches now (didn't before except if I had the bass up loud and had it idling, but i have the bass lower), and my HU shuts off and turns back on. I don't think it does it when my volume is lower, but I am not sure on that yet either. It also started getting harder and longer to start like the battery is low on juice. Not sure, but I would guess it may be a short somewhere. If so, how would I find the short, never had to look for one before. If not, any other suggestions? It also just had a tune up too.

Re: HU restarts??
it can be a tedious process ..... basically you take all the wires off the postive side of the battery, then pull all the major fuses. Wire an ammeter (current meter) to the gnd side of the battery - use the 10 or 20 amp settings. Start putting the wires then fuses back in, one at a time. One of them will cause a large current draw.

Re: HU restarts??
Do you think that could be a short though? I might take it to a friend, since I really dont have a lot of time on my hands right now with my new job, and 2nd job on weekends. I think tonight, I will be taking out the deck tonite, and checking the wires, need to get some caps for it though. tape don't work well during the cold weather.

Re: HU restarts??
Well, this got worse, ill be taking it to a friend to fix. Wouln't start this morning, and now the tach twitches with the blinker and everything dims when starting it. I don't have the time, or knowledge to tear aprt the steering column, dash, and go through all of the wiring.

Re: HU restarts??
Actually, can a bad alternator cause this? Got that tested today, and it came 20% below what it should be.

Re: HU restarts??
Well, alternator was running 20% below normal, apent 3 1/2 hours at the shop yesterday and got that changed, now to replace the water pump that was dripping all over us at the time and maybe the suspension, didnt know my struts would come out of the wheel well.
