Question 96 Grand Am Shaking problems

I have a 2-door 96 Grand Am that shakes when stopping/slowing and when accelerating after a stop. I have replaced the rotors and pad, passenger side cv shaft,
rear drums, and both front wheel bearings.
The problem is not the tires and is coming from the front driver side. It almost feels as if one of the tires are not balanced, but it stops just after about accelerating from a stop. I had the tires balanced anyway but the problem still remains. I also hear a sort of squashing sound coming from the front driver side tires, and just recently the sounds became loud enough to hear from the inside. A buddy of mine said that it may be the cv shaft on the driver side thats causing all of the problems. I wanted to see if anyone else would say the same thing or maybe something different.
p.s I don't know if this would help but the person that had it before me just let it go to $*&%

It could be the tie rod ends, ball joint, or A-arm bushings. Just check to see if everything is tight and replace anything that is loose. Did you try rotating the tires to see if the shake moves to the rear? Not everyone watches the tire while it's on the balancer, and won't notice something as simple as a broken belt.

Re: 96 Grand Am Shaking problems

The squasing sounds almost like a strut bottoming out because of a bad spring. It would cause some shaking.
You could probley see if thiers a piece broke off the end at the top, which is typicaly where they break, at the ends.

So it's shaking when moving, whether you are braking or accellerating ?
That could be a bad CV joint.

Grab ahold of the cv axle and see if it moves, it should not have any play up/down or side to side.
