99 GMC Jimmy Heat goes Hot Cold hot cold

I have 99 GMC jimmy 4.3 with auto climate control. The heat would blow hot then cold hot cold and you could here a motor running under the dash. Now it just blows hot air. The controls for where it sends the air works and so does the fan motor controlls. I read the post on replacing the blend motor but I still cant figure out how to get at the 2 screws that hold the blend motor to the air plenum. Do I have to roll the dash forward to do this? Can you buy just the new aluminum gear or do you have to buy the whole assembly? This is my 5th forum and nobody has been able to expline how to get at this motor. Nice pics on the thread but it doesnt look the same as mine. Please help . Thank you Dan 612-685-6586

Are you refering to the Air tempt valve sensor motor on the right side top of heater housing?
Sometimes called actuator.

Have you tryed to recalibrate it.
Key off Pull the RDO/BATT fuse for a minute and plug in back in and turn key on and it should do it thing.

Have you checked for codes and for good engine vacuum to controls?
Any light on controls on or blinking/flashing?

Re: 99 GMC Jimmy Heat goes Hot Cold hot cold

I tried dissconnecting the battery cables and touched them together for 10 min. Is that the same as pulling the fuse? I have not checked codes. The tech said if there is no check engine light it will not show any thing. I think that is the part I need GM # 89018365. Thanks for your help Dan

Try the fuse deal.
After pulling the fuse and installing and key on you should hear it do its thing if it is recalbrating.
To get codes or check it out you will need a body/and AC-heater control module capable scanner.
Codes can point you in the right direction.
If any codes post back codes.

Re: 99 GMC Jimmy Heat goes Hot Cold hot cold

OK This was so easy to get out after moving the round vacume thing out of the way. It took me maybe 25 minutse to remove and the white gear was broke. I JB welded it back together and will use untill the replacement comes. Does any one know if there is a part # for the gear by itself. Someone on the other post said Orielys have it but the guy looked at me funny and couldnt find it. Thank you VERY much all of you for your help Dan
