97 F-350 Towing

I have a 97 F-350 7.3L Turbo Diesel and am considering using it for towing other vehicles. Any recommendations as to how to drive the truck to prevent excessive wear & tear on the engine/transmission? Thanks

Re: 97 F-350 Towing

if what your pulling is half the weight of yours then drive like your not pulling anything.but if it weighs as much as yours then if you have an automatic trans then don't use overdrive gear as you will burn it out. overdrive gear is not for pulling real heavy stuff . if the wieght is half your truck weight then it won't hurt overdrive.
