brake pedal problems
1997 chevy truck Z71 350 and a 4l60e when i push my brake pedal i get a clicking sound comming from above the steering coloumn (this is with me in the floorboard looking up while pressing the pedal with my hand) the weird thing is it only does it comming out of park...so after a little while messing with it i can take the plastic box off of the brake pedal rod which bypasses having to push the brake to get it out of park and it doesnt make the noise when i do this...any ideas will be well appreciated

Re: brake pedal problems
It's probably the shift-lock mechanism... if it doesn't do it with that removed there's not really anything else it could be. I notice a click on most GM vehicles when taking them out of park... I think it's probably normal, it's never caused a problem anyway. If it's a concern to you, replace it.
