Re: clutch squeak

i'm thinking TOB. either way, you are going to have to pull it back apart. sorry to hear that.

Re: clutch squeak

damn! could it be the master or slave cylinder? could not be pushing the fluid enough so that the fork isnt getting pushed all the way in?

Re: clutch squeak

the squeeling you are referring to is most likely caused by a part that is rotating. Since the clutch, when actuated and moving the fork to push the TOB away from the pressure plate to free the transmission from rotation, it would make sense if it was on either side of the TOB being the pressure plate, or the TOB, or the clutch fork. I don't see how a master or slave could cause that problem, seeing as how they are hydraulic driven and wouldn't produce enough friction to cause a sound like that.

You did replace the TOB with an OEM unit, not an aftermarket unit correct?

If it were teh disc that was squeeling (which it will smell like burn fried shrimp if it were) it would go away very shortly since it operates similarly to brake pads, unless it was constantly being actuated, which it sounds like it is going in and out sorta fine.

who exactly replaced the clutch? was it solely You or did you have a friend help, or what? Which brand of clutch kit did you go with? I did the clutch on the Galant, and barring not getting it lined up right (which if the trans went on, its lined up right) there isn't too much to mess up.

I say, pull it back out. There isn't too much you can do about it from the outside.

Re: clutch squeak

it should go away...mine did the same thing when i replaced my clutch, and about 30 miles or so later it went away (about 400 miles or so later the TOB started to rattle again...whatever).

Re: clutch squeak

thais the same kit that I put in the eclipse. !!!! Too funny. Seriously though I've got 33000 miles and no issues with that kit. Just taking it east on the pressure plate and it all seems to be fine.
