Rack and pinion has somehow broken loose from mounting locations on engine cradle. Both brackets have broken completely away. When you turn the wheel, the whole rack moves at least within 4 inches or greater in either direction. This puts a lot of slack in the steering.
Short of welding this thing in place, what is the best idea to correct this problem. This vehicle isn't exactly the safest thing in the world to drive when the steering doesn't go where you need it to when you want it to. Any information or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Re: '99 GA Rack & Pinion Mounting
I guess it could be possible to replace the brackets. If so, that would make it much easier. Looked to me like the mounting locations were made into the engine cradle, however.

Re: '99 GA Rack & Pinion Mounting
one side of the brackets faces forward, and the other faces backwards.
The R&P has to pull out through the drivers side wheel well, a pita but do-able DIY.
