Question Help with power seat

This is my first post, my problem with my 95' park avenue is the passenger seat. It won't recline up or down. I've replaced the motor, that didn't work, I replaced the switch (junkyard) and it still doesn't work. Does anyone know how to test the switch, or should I buy a completely new one?

Re: Help with power seat

Welcome to AF. This could be a problem with the seat solenoids not the switch, check for 12v at the solenoid for the tilt position when the switch is depressed.

Re: Help with power seat

I should be more clearer. When I push the switch in the up/down position the motor engages. but its like something is keeping it from turning . It'll jerk but not rotate. And I only have wires and a wire harness going to the motors I didn't see any solenoids.

Re: Help with power seat

They are inside the motor drive pack, not outwardly visible, these solenoids select the cables that drive the different position tracks . Usually this type of diagnosis/ repair is tough for a dyer.

Re: Help with power seat

Sorry for the long feed back. The cables that let the seat recline up in down move when you pull the switch for the seat in the up/down position but it just kind of lurches as if something is stuck. you can still hear the motor rotating but the cables don't move.

Re: Help with power seat

Could be some stripped drive gears in the motor pack, no way to tell without taking it apart.

Re: Help with power seat

I finally found the problem with my seat. Its the screw that lets the seat recline up and down on the left side. I took out the cables that turn the screw and on the right side its is oily and has grease on the screw mechanism. on the lefts side its flakey grease. I used a power drill to let the seat up some.works fine for the right side but the left side it would only let up so far. how do I fix this problem. Would it be better if i posted pics?
