Re: the beast

Huh... it's interesting.

It looks like you could spray lighter coats of paint to avoid the paint runs.

I don't particularly enjoy the color choices. The black is fine, and I do like the greyish wheels, but the green comes off as a bit desperate.

The driver's wing mirror is a bit droopy, and... well. you get the idea.

Clean up the sub-assemblies, and the finished product will look more put-together.

The bits of the engine that are not green look quite well done, especially the battery.

Keep building, take your time, and look at the other works on here for visual tips in achieving a substantial result.

Re: the beast

Huh, yeah, ohhh, well, umm,
This beast has had a pretty bad gestation period.
Not good.

Re: the beast

Wow - beast is correct! I don't think I'd like to meet this Supra in the middle of the night. But hey, I kinda like the bold black/green colour scheme.

If I may offer some advice, I'd suggest using spray paint for the exterior, as it will give a smoother finish. But if you have no easy access to spray cans, use a larger paint brush, as this will give better results. I recall someone here before who used to brush paint immaculate bodies. There are plenty of tutorials on AF for getting nice paint jobs.

Also, it is possible to get glue to will not 'fog' clear parts, like has happened to the front right headlamp.

Oh, and welcome to AF. Love to see your next builds - there are plenty of tips here on AF to keep improving.

Re: the beast

Hi there suzuki,

Not too bad on this one, the engine bay looks pretty good.
I'm sure your not 100% happy with the way the body came out.

But please whatever you do...stick with it! You'll get better with every
model that you finish!

Can I ask how old you are?

I was looking at some of my early models and they're pretty close to yours.
But many years later I'm 300% better and 300% faster. You'll get there
you just have to
STICK WITH IT!

Re: the beast

Yes, as Baxter said, stick with it. Keep learning and improving your skills and one day you'll have some very nicely done models. And as potsie said, work one your paint work. Try spray paint or even air brush. And there is clear parst glue. Also you wanna try and use minimal amounts of glue, don't over do it on the glue.

Re: the beast

for a 14 year old going through that much effort for a model is a plus. my comments would be like the others but if i may add... are you using modeling paint or paint for actual painting?? couldn't really tell the green but the black and the grey doesn't look too much like modeling paint... if you were then it is really better to use proper modeling paint, try tamiya as a beginner, easy to use and clean...

anyway that engine looks pretty tidy, keep up the good work~~!! At the current stage i suggest you buy some models from ebay etc to score some cheaper kits for practice purposes... after a few kits and when you feel more confident go for a kit you like and really concentrate on it... that's how i improve when i was young

O almost forgot, it is wise to invest on some modelling tools such as craft knifes and tweezers etc... they really help!

Re: the beast

Suzuki, yeah I wasn't too far from you when I was 14. And I'm glad you
were proud to show of your Supra. That's a great sign. To tell you the truth
I didn't think young people still built kits.

20 years later and I still use spray cans and tamiya jars and testors metalizer
paints and you wouldn't believe the results you can get.
It's all a matter of Patience, Planning, and Execution.

But the most important part of that is the Patience.
Sometimes in modelling you develop skills that you don't realize you are
developing, but they come out in later kits.

So good luck with your next one, can't wait to see it.
