The radio in my 01 cavalier is about the biggest pos I've ever seen i can buy a brand new CD and sometimes it works ok but that's only when u let it play all the way threw if u try skipin a track it comes up ERR and ejects the CD half the time it wont even play when u first put it in its really annoying and if some one can help me make this thing play even a little better id be thankful so any ideas hit me back.

Re: stock junk!!

You must have a malfunctioning unit, I've had 2 Cavaliers (a 2000 with CD+Cassette Player, and 2003 CD player) And both decks, while not the most powerful, were decent systems IMO. I'm not even thinking of replacing my 2003's deck for awhile because I'm quite satisfied with it. I've never had an error message come up and yes I skip through my tracks quite a bit and even on personally burned cds, they run fine. I'd say go to a junkyard or ebay and get a new 2000+ deck from another Cavalier for the cheapest solution, or use it as the perfect excuse to get a new deck in there If you need any info on replacing your deck with an aftermarket one hit me up. Though a 2000+ stock unit from another Cavalier would just be plug and play.

Thats the adaptor harness, Yes nothing you'll want if you're low on cash. I wouldn't know anyway to fix it. I'd say go to a junkyard and get a deck from another Cavalier (Has to be a 2000+ though) or search ebay.

I used a Sosche GM1583B (1992-Up Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, Pontiac). I picked it up at my local Wal*Mart.

Re: stock junk!!

Well i went and got a radio for 50$ and installed it its one like the one in your LS but its got a tape player and i forgot how good a good cd player plays best cd player ive ever had in a car so far i had to take it out to the chevy garage to get that damn theft lock turned off for an extra 32.50 but i think it was worth it and as for the old cd player if it dont pass the test out here it gets blown to pecies with a shot gun (man that felt good) well thanks for the advice

Glad to hear you got that worked out. I always liked the Cavalier Stock unit too, Just wish it had a little more power.
