Sloppy driver side window - Regulator ?

The driver's side window in my 1999 Montana is sticking, tilting & having trouble going back up. From what I've read this is an indication that the scissor shaped "regulator" mechanism is worn out.

I took the door panel off to have a look and sure enough there is slop in the regulator assembly. It looks like it could be frustrating to get the old one out and new one in as it isn't easily accessed due to blockage by the inner sheet metal on the door. I also saw a big spring as part of the assembly. I wonder if that's involved ?

The part is relatively cheap...I see them advertised for < $50 at various places on the 'net but I wouldn't mind a bit of coaching before I try my hand at replacing it.

Thanks.

Re: Sloppy driver side window - Regulator ?

the track can be lubed the one that the window goes up in lube the front and back . also there is an adjustment on each side on the the bottom of the tracks two bolts on each side. there is a arm for im guessing the tilt of the window midway left side one bolt . i pushed the arm to the bottom and tightened it up. the bottom of the tracks can be pulled inward after you loosen the two bolts on each side.but try lubing it first especially the front one.

I think it's beyond lubing the track and making adjustments. I did that when I had the door panel off the first time. Helped for a few weeks but the regulator is definitely worn out and needs to be replaced.

Re: Sloppy driver side window - Regulator ?

I lubed the driver side window with teflon spray in the grooves on a regular basis then cleaned & polished the window with Nufinish.
It was described to me as the way the window lifters are engineered. My wifes Windstar power windows operate fast. different mechanism.

Now if I could get the rear quarter panel windows working, I would be a semi happy camper.
