X-Box

I saw it today at EB, and I must say....

Not impressed! The unit is bigger than VCR, but the controllers while a bit bulky, seem nice. I saw UNinteractive demos, so nothing to play. I must also add I wasn't blown away by anygame. PS2 looks a hell of a lot better. The guy there also said that Gamecube sold out in like 20 minutes (taking orders), while it took a week for X-Box. Bottom line: NOT IMPRESSED.

I also am very unimpressed with Microsoft's offering into the gaming world. There is one and only one title that interests me on X-Box, Jet Set Future. I love the first game on DC, but I'm not about to shell out $300 to play the sequel. Also, it infuriates me that Shenmue 2 got canceled for the US Dreamcast.

I have a feeling that it is going to meet the same fate as did the Dreamcast. Yeah the graphics on it or killer, but it's not going to be better then the ones that have the longevity that Sony and Nintendo have. Oh well, to each his own.

You seen Gamecube in japan? It's not such a hot item anymore, alot of the japs are actually waiting for Xbox man. You shoulda seen alot of the praise they gave it at TGS. It was mind blowing that they actually dug Xbox. Gamecube's game line up looks pretty puny if ya ask me, there aren't any KILLER APPS on it at launch where area's Xbox has plenty. Cube might be a KID console to if you wanna call it that, its got a gay ass handle on it, and besides Nintendo screwed us over with the n64. I understand how you feel about Xbox though, i USED to think like that, but I'm looking forward to it 110%.

This topic will be revisited and I want you to remember this, for when you start to express frustration over one thing or another.:right:

Honestly, I was biased towards the X-Box, but once I saw it, I wasn't impressed at all. $500 for it is too much, and it's definately not worth it at that point. Stick with a ps2. I don't like Nintendo either, and I think both aren't so great.

You have to remember though. The X-Box is not just a game console. It is more of a mini PC. Show me one other system that can hook up via ethernet, and play online? Sur the DC can do it over dial up access. Wow, thats so outdated already. It has what, a 733mhz processor? Thats almost as fast, if not faster than alot of your CPU's. How about the Nvidia GPU? They are, and continue to be the top notch GPU companies. Lets not forget the harddrive storage? Can the PS2 offer that? What about the DC?

Thumbs up

Which is the benefit. The only problem I see with it is it's size, and it's price. The games now do not blow you away graphic wise, except maybe HALO. BUT, these are the first gen games, and I'm sure everything will improve drastically. The guy at the store was telling me how you can put music CD's in, it will make MP3 files of the songs, and you can play the songs while playing a game. Plus it has a hard drive, which will mean plenty of save space, no need to buy ANNOYING memory cards and stuff.

My main gripe is the price: $500. That's going to be tough to sell.

I wasn't calling you a fanboy man, Just a natural instinct i got, I am used to bias people, from posting at video game forums, mainly TeamXbox.

Edit: I'm prolly the only one in here getting Xbox on Nov 15th anyways, so I'll post impressions of Project Gotham racing, and the other two games I'm getting with the bundle.

I'm going to give my spooge on video game systems:

NO system, I repeat, NO system will win me over with specifications and reviews. I don't care if the graphics look like real-life. If the games themselves play like crap, then all it is is good-looking crap. Some of the funnest games are on old systems. I still play games on my SNES and up until a few days ago my NES (it broke, BTW). Those games, despite the dated graphics, had truly awesome game-play and originality. I love games that are original and play well. Jet Set Radio for example. One of the greatest games ever, in my humble opinion. I think that they tapped a genre and did it well. That's why I like Sega so much. They took chances and developed new games, not the newest generation of Tomb Raider Crap! Unfortunately, that's what got them killed. Bottom line for me: Specs don't make video game systems, games make video game systems. Good games, good system. Bad games, bad system.

Sorry, if I sounded mad, but I put up with enough hidebound people.

I still have my Atari 2600, with a bunch of games

I also found a old Caleco vision system at the junk store. I really dont think it will work though. I should pick it up to check it out
