Has anyone bought 28 inch monitor?

I love the larger screen size for video editing. Now my eyes are on the 28 inch monitor, has anyone bought it? I need your advice. I find that the price for I-Inc iF-281DPB 28" Widescreen LCD Monitor is $540 now.

My friends tell me that it was advertised online and in the store for $499. But when I search on line, it is $540.. I find a deal for Hanns.G HG281DPB 28 inch Widescreen LCD Monitor (refurbished)..It is $450..

but it is refurbished. Is it worth buying?
Can you give me some advice? Thanks…

I'm moving this to the appropriate forum for you....IDK about the monitor -- I'm still using a 17" that's 10 years old.

refurbed means it was probably a warranty return that was fixed. I've bought a lot of refurbed items over the years and never had a problem. Cooking rice in a refurbed cooker i got 4 years ago for $9 tonight.

Just make sure that there is a warranty on the referb. Some of them are still lemons. You can keep returning them until you get a good one, or they just replace it with a new one.

I've got a lot of referb stuff too! Cant beet the price!

See what value you can get from a manufacturer called Chimei. Excellent value panels rebranded by names like Samsung.

Re: Has anyone bought 28 inch monitor?

I had to return my Samsung 22" LCD under warranty. They sent back a refurb that is still working great.

Just remember that refurbs are sometimes just open box.

Re: Has anyone bought 28 inch monitor?

One thing to keep is mind that the monitor size does not give you more desktop space to work with just makes everything bigger. Its the resolution that gives you more workroom.

I'm mentioning this since you said you are interested in video editing which, like photoshop and other media programs can really use the extra space for tools etc...

From this perspective most 24" will give you the same desktop space at 1900x1200 just the image will be smaller; however, it will be sharper due to smaller pixel pitch.

Furthermore for serious video editing look for at least 8 bit panels preferably properly calibrated ones.
