Over-Cranking the Engine

hello all,

so today i was starting my friend's Cutlass, and i couldn't tell if the engine was running, so i turned it off and tried to start it again. when i did, i think i may have cranked the engine too long . i let go of it as soon as i thought it started. i only held it for a second or less too long, i think...

do you think i could of hurt the car? it did start, and ran fine on the way home...

Re: Over-Cranking the Engine

welcome to AF.

You can damage the starter or fly wheel.
Starter is cheap and easy to fix, flywheel ... not so much.
