1978 Mgb

I replaced the coil in my 1978 MGB And I need help with the wire connections to the coil. I think it is not the correct distribtor because it has points. I have Green & White wires, Black & white wires, the wire from the points to the coil and a white wire that is a positive hot wire. Can someone let me know what treminals on the coil the wires should be placed ? Thanks!

Re: 1978 Mgb

Is your coil a 1.5 ohm (6v) coil for use with a ballast resistor? Or is it a 3 ohm (12v) coil for use without a ballast resistor? The type coil you have determines how it should be hooked up. The wiring diagram will not be correct if you have a points type distributor. Let us know which coil you have. The coil should have a label stating if it needs a ballast resistor.
