Disable auto lock on 00' Sable LS Premium

Can someone provide me with the code to disable the auto door lock feature on a 2000 Mercury Sable LS Premium 24V DOHC? Why not kill 2 birds with one stone and also tell me how to disable the seatbelt warning. Thanks!!!

I do not mean to be flippant in asking you this, but why would you want to disable two safety features?

Re: Disable auto lock on 00' Sable LS Premium

How do you consider BOTH to be a safety feature? I don't have any children so the automatic door locks are pain. I suppose you can stretch the "safety issue" by saying I could be mugged at a stop light unless my doors are locked but I will take that risk. As far as the seatbelt warning goes, I will agree, it will shut up if you put your seatbelt on so why disable it right? BECAUSE IT DINGS EVEN WHEN I AM IN PARK!!!

I was involved in a head on collision last month and am VERY aware of the importance of a seatbelt. I don't need the flashing light and warning sounds to click it.

So, I take it you don't have the answer on how to fix this problem?

Re: Disable auto lock on 00' Sable LS Premium

Not sure about the seatbelt, but this autolock disable feature is from a Ford manual:

1)Start in the car with all doors closed and the key turned off.
2)Put the switch in the on position and press the door unlock button 3 times.
3)Put the switch in the off position and press the door unlock button 3 times.
4)Put the switch in the on position, you should hear a quick note from your horn.
5)Press the door unlock button 1 time then press the door lock button 1 time.

You should hear a short note from your horn indicating that the auto-lock system is disabled.

If you hear a short note then a longer note from the horn then the auto-lock system has just been enabled.

Turn the switch to the off position. You will hear a short note from the horn to let you know that the system has been changed.

These steps should be done within 30 seconds in order to properly activate or deactivate the feature.

The system will in most cases revert back to the original setting anytime you disconnect the battery

You do not owe me an apology and by the way I am retired now. Your rant did not offend me... I have seen and heard stuff you can only imagine.

Hope I was able to help. Good luck.
