Oh Crap! A/C don't work!

I just know this is gonna be expensive, but it got a little warm yesterday so I tryed useing AC and no cold, had both sides of dual turned all the way down, blows hot air out the right side center vent and slightly cool to warm air on left side of center vent. I can hear compressor kick on (if I turn down fan speed), checked the fuses, there is a relay that has something to do with ac (of course can't tell if a relay is bad by looking at it) but all fuses ok. Now the paranoid part of me is saying the dealer messed with something, I got my car in with a check engine light just before bumper to bumper warranty ran out (just 3 miles left) and they changed a o2 sensor, but when I picked up the car and started it I seen someone had AC on when it was to cool to have needed it. Where they a little pissey that I got that work done for free and screwed with my AC somehow? Is there something to check for? before I take it in (and not to that dealer again).. Shorod? anybody? help!

if compressor is working you'll have to put a set of guages on to see what the readings are.it sounds like its got a low charge of freon.

Is this a 2005 Lincoln LS?
Is this car still coverd by Ford?,I would take it back and give them Hell anyways.
All of the problems should of been weeded out of this car by now.

You should first try the reset procedure on the Dual Automatic Climate Control (DATC) unit. Search the forum, but I think the procedure is the press the Auto and Panel buttons at the same time, release and press the defrost button within 2 seconds. All display segments will light and if there are any diagnostic codes, they will be displayed. If no codes displayed, then press the defrost button (I think) and it will reset the DATC.

If that has no effect, then I'm afraid you probably have a faulty Dual Coolant Control Valve (DCCV). The part isn't too bad to replace, but the part isn't cheap, even from www.fastpartsnetwork.com. Again, quite a few threads on the DCCV, search the forum. I'm sure there's one with steps or a link to the steps to replace the DCCV.

I looked up the procedure, what I typed from memory earlier was not correct. Try the following (from Alldata):


The DATC module self-test through the front panel display:

• can be initiated at any time. Normal operation of the system stops when the self-test is activated.
• is entered by pressing the OFF and FLOOR buttons simultaneously and then pressing the AUTO button within two seconds . Record all DTCs displayed.
• concludes by reporting all on-demand DTCs. Follow the diagnostics procedure given under ACTION in the DTC index for each DTC given.
• reports individual on-demand DTCs as four-digit DTCs (less the alpha character).
• will calibrate all the mode doors and check all analog inputs. The DATC module will only report on-demand (hard) faults that occurred while the DATC module was conducting its self-test.
• will light all control panel display segments if no faults are detected.
• will report individual on-demand DTCs without the °C symbol lit.

To exit the self-test, press the defrost button. This will clear all on-demand codes from the DATC module memory. If no button is pushed, DTCs will continue to be displayed.

Showrod, nothing happens except when I press auto it just functions like normal, no displays, Is the engine suppose to be running or off with key switch on? and what does it mean floor buttons? I press off and the 3 buttons that's for floor air flow direction, hope you dont mean all buttons (I dont have that many fingers)...

You'll need to have the key in the Run position. I don't think the engine has to be running, but may as well try that if it doesn't work KOEO. You press the OFF and FLOOR buttons at the same time, release them and within 2 seconds press the AUTO button. "FLOOR buttons" is plural since you are pressing two buttons, OFF and FLOOR. You want to use the button that is for only floor airflow.

Well Shorod I tryed it and it still operates as if I wasn't trying to get a code, tryed several times,, what do u think?
