Red face Ignition Module & Coil Problems

Have a 2002 2.4L Alero with 108,000 miles. Woke up to a chilly (-20F) morning in late January (1/29) and it wouldn't start so we jumped it several times over the course of 2 hours and it still wouldn't start. Had it towed to a dealer and they let it warm up, still wouldn't start. Finally they replaced the ignition module and it worked fine, except that the trac off light was illuminated, didn't pay much attention to it 'cuz we were in a hurry. Drove the car about 200 miles to our next destination (too long of a story for this forum why we weren't home) and it worked fine. Tried to start it later that night, and barely started, ran really rough, sounded like an old truck! Decided to take it to the shop (again) but wouldn't start the next morning to take it. Towed it again to the shop (a different shop as in a different town) and they replaced the ignition module (again) and coil. Worked fine until 3/9. Used the car on 3/8, worked fine. Went to start it the morning of 3/9 and it sounds like an old truck again. Took it to a 3rd shop (finally home now) and they replaced the ignition coil and module again. Also did extensive testing to see what was causing this problem and came up with NOTHING!! (Both times when these things were replaced the shop also noted that cylinders 1 & 4 weren't firing.)
My question is.......has anyone else run into this problem with Aleros. I really love my car and other than the recalled turn signal a few years back have had no other problems with it. Any input is appreciated.

Re: Ignition Module & Coil Problems

that sounds sorta like my problem. I have a 99 alero though. did u try having the PCM checked out? it may be an electrical problem. most mechanics dont like looking into the electrical aspect because its a long process and can be a pain in the u know what! try getting that looked at.

Re: Ignition Module & Coil Problems

Thanks for the help. I guess we'll have the PCM checked out and go from there.
