2001 4.7l P/S pump useful info

I just wanted to share some hard-earned information about the 2001 4.7l V8 engine's power steering pump.

If you go to a parts store instead of the Dodge dealer, you want the pump with the 17 mm shaft (sticker code U61). Napa and Autozone both have 2 different pumps listed, one with a 17mm shaft, and one with an 18mm shaft. Dodge says there is only one used on this motor, the pump with a 17mm shaft.

Don't even consider buying an aftermarket pulley, go straight to your Dodge dealer and order one. The OEM pulley has holes in it so you can access the pump's mounting bolts to install it to the engine block. The aftermarket pulley is solid, without these holes. The OEM pulley is actually less expensive, too.
