1994 E-150 4WABS Diagnostics Scanner

I'm trying to help a friend with a 1994 Econoline 150. The ABS light comes on when the ignition is switched on, and remains lit until the key is turned off (started, driven, or not). It has the 4-wheel ABS system (two front sensors, one rear sensor).

I was trying to figure out how to access the diagnostics codes. I know on the earlier RWABS systems you can jumper the plug up front, but I'm guessing the 4WABS system needs a scanner to get the codes. Any idea on what scanners to use for this? Or is there a way to use the dash light to display the codes? Any insights/tips would be appreciated. Thanks!
