Re: No Start S-10?

Did they offer to scan the computer?

When an ignition coil starts going bad, it'll provide sufficient voltage to light a spark plug UNDER COMPRESSION when cold but break down and start shorting out when it gets warm only to return sufficient voltage when cooled back off.

Re: No Start S-10?

Does the starter quit or the engine just will not start?
Does it start and run 2 seconds and the quit?
Does the security light come on for bulb check key on and then go off or stay on?

Has the fuel pressure been checked.
When not start check fuel pressure and for lose of good hot blue spark to spark plugs.

Not much of a dealer if they can not figure it out.

Tip on going to the dealer
Ask that only a factory certified gasoline engine performance specialist work on your car.
Not all dealerships are concerned with how repairs are dispatched, and not all dealership techs bother to take advantage of the training offered by factory (the vast majority of which is paid training). If the dealer is uncooperative, ask for your money back and call around for a dealer that will accommodate you.

Re: No Start S-10?

When it dies it wont turn over but if it sits for a while and then it will start after it runs for about 10 min or so it will die.The dealer said the under hood fuse block could be bad or the ignition switch and i just replaced the ignition switch and lock cylinder and lock cylinder case.I think the dealer is just guessing now i dont think they know what there doing.

Re: No Start S-10?

When a no start does the starter crank the engine good?

When It dies it needs to be checked for spark to spark plugs and fuel pressure up to specs.

Are you going to find another repair shop or dealer or try to fix it yourself?

Re: No Start S-10?

That covers a lot of area!!!
I would find a good repair shop that knows what they are doing.
I would start with a good battery and charging system check and cable cleaning cleaning and check.

Good Luck

Re: No Start S-10?

If the starter does not crank the engine over.
You need to test it when it does it.
It is losing something someplace.
Lose wiring or connection or ground.
Check all power feeds and grounds when it does it.

Re: No Start S-10?

STARTER RELAY

Yes it should click in start position and put out 12 volts on the starter solenoid wire.
It is also fused.
Also there is a crank fuse and a saftey switch that the start circuit has to go threw to get to starter.

Check everything on the starter circuit from ign switch to starter solenoid when it no starts.
Does the starter solenoid get 12 volts on the purple wire at starter solenoid.
Are all battery cables and ends good and clean?
Battery up good?
