Help! 97 Buick T-mission shifting problems

It started it out making a racheting noise when backing up. Then it became hard to get back to park from drive. Then hard to engage column shifter into drive and reverse. But once in gear it drives and shifts fine. We replaced fluid and filter in the transmission & safety/neutal switch. Used transmission scanner to troubleshoot - no problems found. Help before I take it to the shop.
