Steering Control Buttons / Intermittant Startup

Hello everyone,

I have two issues with my Buick at the moment. I have a 97 Buick LeSabre Liimited, real good car, certainly got my moneys worth.

My first issue started after a run-in with Monroe (whom I will never take my car to again). Since they messed up something presumably with the vaccuum lines, every now and again the car will have a problem starting, will idle on a very low RPM with the amps running low. After a bit, it will kick into normal engine speeds. This usually only happens when the engine is warm with many starts and stops. I have put about 50,000 miles on the car with changing very few parts. I have kept up with routine maintance except the fuel filter needs changed. Any thoughts on what might cause this?

My next issue is with the steering control buttons, three which operate the stereo and one the temperature control. I have just inserted a new Pioneer stereo, but now the column buttons do not work (even the temperature control). I purchased the easy install kits from Circuit City, so it was just hooking up the proper cables. Beyond that, I am not sure if anything else has been altered since I have not driven the car since inserting the stereo. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
-X

Sorry for the delayed response! What kind of service did "Monroe" perform? I would check all the vacuum fittings & connections first, then check all sensor electrical connections. You may need to use a scanner to check sensor functions, and to look at such things as; IAC, MAF, MAP, TPS, 02, CTS, STFT/LTFT (fuel trims) and whatever else the scanner is capable of displaying.

When using an aftermarket radio, you will need an interface module for the steering wheel controls similar to the ones shown in this link: Click Here
