No Power To Ignition Coil

I have a 2000 Bonneville that is not firing on one of its coils. To start out, I got under the hood, checked for spark between wires and plugs, 4 of 6 okay. So next I checked between wires and coil pack on the ones I had no fire. I assumed that the problem was the individual coil pack. So, I replace it. Still no spark . So, I take the original "problem" coil and swap it with a working one. It checks out to be okay. Then, I get gutsy and take hold of the coil, engine running, and not a volt shakes me. My question is, is there some sort of fuse/relay that runs the individual packs? And, is this way I am getting no spark? Please assume that all plugs and wires are okay.
Thanks

Re: No Power To Ignition Coil

I don't like to assume anything. Just pull both wires off the non-firing coil. The spark will jump from one post to the other when the engine is cranked. This will eliminate the possibilty of a bad wire. If you just touched one post you may not get shocked if a wire is bad or if you're not grounded.

The coils don't have separate fuses. Most likely the ignition control module is bad.

Re: No Power To Ignition Coil

i did crank like you said and no jump between posts. 2 of 3 shocked the piss out of me so i'm gonna go with ignition control module.
thanks for the help though. any other possible prognosis?

Re: No Power To Ignition Coil

If the harmonic balancer is bent it might be able to cause it - I'm not sure. I still think the ICM is your best bet. I would think you could get one from a junkyard for $40-$50 with the coils.
