FWIW, I used to have a Holley on my 406 that I have in my 1964 Bel Air but didn't care for it , especially how it acted in the colder weather. So I replaced it with a Carter AFB and the car ran better and was better overall. Now mind you this was almost 20 years ago and I don't know if they still make the Carter AFBs, but I wanted to post and say about the issues I had with the Holley. Maybe that might influence your decision.

There is no comparison. Edelbrocks are a knock-off of a 50 year old design, and not very well executed. Some of the best carb tuners in the country can't "do anything" with them.
Certain Holleys are as good as it gets. Others aren't any better than the E-carbs. There ARE others. Rochester Q-Jet is among the best carbs out there for mild or mid-level street engines. "Which is best?" is too broad a question. What is the application? Jim

Edelbrock is essentially a Carter AFB/Weber. It is a troublefree design and I use a few of them. The Holley on the other hand (4160-4150) is a true all out performance carb, with many parts available to custom calibrate them to almost any situation. For my more intense builds, I allways run the Holley! For more casual, mild performance engines, I would run the Edelbrock. JW.

Im a holley guy i have an 850 double pump holley on my race car and i wouldn't ever go to back to my elderbrock i payed to much for it and it isn't near my holley

Malibu , if your car presently has a Quadrajet on it , you can replace it with a Holley model # 4175 which is a direct replacement. It uses the same gas line inlet location , same linkage and the design mimicks the Q-jet's small primaries and large secondaries . Just my
 !

I always amused at how many otherwise apparently knowledgeable motorheads cannot spell Edelbrock. It's spelled exactly like it sounds. If any brand name was most likely to be misspelled, I'd pick Weiand, but I can't remember anyone getting that name wrong.
Maybe Edelbrock is actually pronounced differently in some parts of the country, or their script logo is hard to read? After 70 years, I guess it's not really important. The mailman in Torrance, California will deliver your letters to "Elderbrack", and Vic and the local speed shop are happy to take your money however you spell or say it!
