2001 ABS Light

Friend just bought a 2001 Intrepid, the ABS light is on. My question is:
Is it a common problem with these cars that the sensors built up with rust so the sensor is to far away from the reluctor ring for proper readings??

Also I need to change the alternator belt, is it easiest to do this from the bottom of vehicle??

Thanks for suggestions

Re: 2001 ABS Light

answers:well have you checked to see what the code is? if it is a wheel speed sensor problem, then no.depending on where you are located, the usual prob is grease from the c.v. boot[outer]it has also been a problem with the axles to break the pick up ring giving an abnormal fluctuation to the generator, depends on the code and the wheel affected.re-post answers.

Re: 2001 ABS Light

Well I got the alternator/PS belt changed today. Did it from the top, everything enclosed from the bottom, what a PITA.

No I haven't had the codes checked, friend just bought the car Saturday. I will check the reluctor rings to for grease on them from shaft or if they are damaged in any form.

Thanks for the input.
