Would it be terrible to re-use rocker bolts?

We have to get these heads on and the dealer says a few days for rocker bolts.

Would it be awful to re-use the rocker bolts.

Re: Would it be terrible to re-use rocker bolts?

Unless there was a catastophic valve train failure, I see no problem with re-using the rocker arm bolts. The recommendation of replacing them is not a part of any proceedure I've ever seen.

Reuse them and I never had a problem with them failing.Make sure you don't hear a Snapping noise, the pedistalls breaking in half due to being reefed on.I have seen this happen for the first time a while back

guys, should he add some threadlock to the bolts? Maybe tap out the threads and wire brush off the bolts to make a clean surface in order to get the correect torque value?

Re: Would it be terrible to re-use rocker bolts?

I don't torque them,I tighten them with my 3/8" impact wrench and check them with a hand ratchet. They have to be set in right, there is a slot in the head and in in the pedistal of the rocker arm.I have had this happen to me once, loosen up because it was not set in the slot right.

Yikes, an impact wrench (even a 3/8") on rocker arm bolts? I don't think I'd be using that technique. You're just asking to break a bolt, strip the threads in the head, or crack the rocker fulcrum/mount. Reinstall them by hand, torque to spec, done.
