02 Taurus Dash Lights

Gas gauge light is burnt out. I have not dug into it yet. Can anyone tell me the procedure for getting to and replacing the fuel gauge light. I might replace all the dash lights also. Thank You.

Per the factory service manual:
Instrument Cluster

Removal and Installation

1. Disconnect the battery. For additional information, refer to Section 414-01 .
2. Remove the instrument cluster finish panel. For additional information, refer to Section 501-12 .
3. Remove the shifter selector cable, if equipped with column shift. For additional information, refer to Section 211-04 .
4. Remove the instrument cluster screws.
   • Disconnect the electrical connectors.
5. Remove the instrument cluster.
6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Instrument Cluster Finish Panel

Removal and Installation

1. Adjust the steering column to the full tilt-down position.
2. Remove the instrument panel center finish panel. For additional information, refer to Instrument Panel Center Finish Panel in this section.
3. Remove the headlamp switch. For additional information, refer to Section 417-01 .
4. NOTE: If equipped with a steering column selector lever, position the lever in the 1 position.
   Remove the instrument cluster finish panel.
   1. Remove the screws.
   2. Remove the instrument cluster finish panel.
   • If equipped, disconnect the traction control switch electrical connector.

2002 SES..I have a center console and I had to remove the radio to allow clearance for removal of the vent panel.
