2004 Cavalier Shaking

I have an 04 Cavalier with 50K miles.

On ocassion the car will suddenly start to shake. I mean real bad. I could be driving along and all of a sudden something happens to the motor and the car vibrates terribly. I pull over to the side of the road and stop let the car idle for a minute or so and just as quick as it began, it goes away. This has happened a couple of thimes over this past few months. It vibrates as if there is something out of balance but goes right out of the car all of a sudden and things are back to normal.
I expect and electrical problem with the ignition but has anyone ever had this happen before?

There are no codes being set.

Jim

Re: 2004 Cavalier Shaking

It could be a misfire. Does it ever feel like its trying to stumble when accelerating? Highly doubt your motor mounts are shot yet, those don't got bad for many many miles.

Could be just bad gas too. If you haven't ever changed the spark plugs, wouldn't be a bad idea to get some new Delco's in there. Then see what happens.

Re: 2004 Cavalier Shaking

I had the same problem with my cavalier 93 and I end up with a bad fuel pump, at 100km a bad pump could give a little shake if it cuts down
