shifting funny

So i just put long tube headers on my car and it feels like i lost something and my trans, A4, is shifting funny. I haven't got the O2 eliminators for the two after the cat so the check engine light is on. Would that be the cause for the car shifting funny or what. And do ya'll know where i can find them. thanks

Re: shifting funny

If your car is getting readings that are way different than they should be it will most likely try to compensate and fix itself when really there is nothing wrong... so I'd say that's your problem. What did you do for O2 extensions? Did you try ebay for the eliminators? I'm pretty sure that is something that can be programed out too by someone like pcmforless.com

Re: shifting funny

I finally found a an eliminator and am now waiting on it. I also did some research when looking for one and found out that it is messing with the air/fuel ratio and probably fouled some plugs but the eliminator should fix it. On the topic of plugs, i saw an article in a car magizine the other day about pulse plugs and was wondering if they were worth getting since i got to change mine anyways. what have ya'll heard about them. thanks

Re: shifting funny

meh, plugs are plugs, and multiple electrodes and all that other junk is just gimmicks. Stick with what the doctor ordered and use the Ac/Delco part referenced on the vehicle emissions sticker.

Re: shifting funny

Alright, so i made my way over to a performance shop today and they were going to tuine out the o2 sensors but they said it would be around 150 or i could buy some of the last o2 simulators they had for a lot cheaper so i did. when i plugged them in the check engine light was still on so i reset the computer and hoped it was going to stay off but its back on again. i thought these things were supposed to keep the light from coming on. am i wrong? so i guess i'm going to have to take it up there and have them tune it because it is still running rich and sluggish off the line.

Re: shifting funny

Maybe you got a bum one out of the box?

OR

It's not throwing a code for the rear o2 anymore and picked up on something else?

Re: shifting funny

yeah, i'm going to go have it coded at auto zone today. But it is still running pretty rich, guess i just need to get the air/fuel tuned.

Re: shifting funny

So i went and got the error code read and it is a fouled plug. The o2 sims are working so i guess i need a air/fuel tune with such a free flowing exhaust with longtubes, ory, and loudmouth
