engine swap and rebuild

i owned a 1994 plymouth laser rs turbo believe its a 2.0 in it. i sold it to my uncle due to the fact that it needed about 4 grand just to safety it..anyways i am now looking at a 1991 plymouth laser rs so i was wondering where can i find a rebuild kit for the 2.0 turbo engine. also would there be a lot of work to swap a 1994 2.0 turbo engine into a 1991 non turbo laser..has anyone done this before? if so wat did u have to swap.did u have to swap anything else other then the engine

That isn't the world's longest sentence but it was close. Can you convey your thoughts clearly so we have a clue of what you are talking about?

Re: engine swap and rebuild

It would be much easier to just buy a turbo car than to swap in a turbo'd engine into a n/t car.

Re: engine swap and rebuild

If that's the case, then just start swapping things over. Engine/tranny, ecu/tcu, wiring, instrument panel, etc. Basically anything that doesn't match up/hook up, change it out.

Re: engine swap and rebuild

No, no it will not. The 91 has a 6 bolt non turbo motor and the 94 has a 7 bolt turbo motor... if it was as easy as swapping everything I'd say go for it, but going from the 6 bolt to the 7 bolt is not only not a direct swap, but its kind of a dumb swap. 7 bolts crankwalk, 6 bolts dont. It may have been done, but even if it did I cant imagine it got documented... documentation usually happens on useful and/or interesting swaps, 6 bolt to 7 is neither.

As for rebuild kit, its called google there homeboy. We are not your personal search engine, take 4 seconds and google it.

Re: engine swap and rebuild

how come you have to put the parts from the 94 into the 91. Why don't you just fix what needs to be done on the 94 which already has the turbo engine (i think its hard to understand you sometimes) and just fix what needs to be fixed on it.

Re: engine swap and rebuild

Your BEST BET would be to just buy a turbo car. Much, much less hassle, and you'll probably save money as well over buying the car, rebuilding it, and then turboing it. If you really want to buy the 91, rebuild and turbo it, by all means go for it, but believe me when I say this, it WON'T be a cakewalk.
