89 YJ issues.. HELP!

Ok.. too many issues but here are a few.

1 - I have a fair amount of oil that makes it's way out of my oil cap when running the jeep (enough that I have to add oil about every 2 or 3 weeks).
I figured maybe I just needed a new oil cap, but that didn't cure it.
After crashing heads with some motor buddies we thought maybe I was getting a build up of pressure that was jsut causing some oil to get pushed out the top of the valve cover, or maybe my old valve cover jsut needs replaced or something. I'm not sure what to do on this one, and to find a valve cover for an 89 YJ 4.2L is insanely impossible (really want to avoid going to a dealer).

2 - I'm currently running stock axels and gearing with a 4" lift and 31x10.50's but want to go up to some 35x12.50's => replace the axels and up the gearing.. any suggestions.

I'll leave it there for now. Would love any help.

Cheers.

Re: 89 YJ issues.. HELP!

Actually just tried pulling the PCV and it has the vacuum it is supposed to. With it covered vice not I got the audible drop in engine rpms and could feel a distinct good vacuum at idle speeds.
Any other ideas?

Re: 89 YJ issues.. HELP!

Ok.. so here is the newest thing.. I'm looking to do a nutter bypass, and it is my understanding I have to use ported vacuum, that is above the carb.. right?
And what exactly am I looking for when I do the compression check. If it is high that is the issue? or low?

Cheers.

Re: 89 YJ issues.. HELP!

there should be a vacume port at rear of intake behind carb would be best and for compressoin test look for the higher the better (80lbs at least) lower means you have blow by the rings and thats where you get the pressure in the crank case
