Weapon R SRI

So I was looking into options for getting rid of my stock intake system for my 2000 Protege LX 1.6L and I see that the only CAI made for it has been discontinued and the only thing decent I've seen is the Weapon R Short Ram Intake. I am aware of the stock attempt at a cold air intake system which is a lot more than other manufacturers do for their cars but all the tubing and stuff is still restricting and it's at a bad place for cold air too haha. I was thinking I would put the Weapon R Short Ram in and leave the stock intake infront of the grill in, and let that blow cold air onto the short ram filter since it'll be in the engine bay and not below the bumper. So essentially it'd just be a replacement of the airbox/tube connecting that to the engine and stuff while leaving the stock intake intact to blow cold air onto the filter. Anyone know if this would work or have any experience with the Weapon R Short Ram for the 1.6L at all? Thanks in advance.
