OBDII issues....question??

I got a 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix GT 3.8 v6. My grandfather wanted to run his scan tool(its a orange one, forget the brand) on the car, he hooked the adapter up to the car one and nothing happened, it wouldnt register with my car. He was thinking that the San tool wasnt updated enough to hook up with a 2003 model, he hasnt had any updates put on this scan tool, it worked fine on my old 2001 GP 3.1 v6 se model. Whats up with this?

Re: OBDII issues....question??

If it is an odb-ii scanner then it should work on a 2003 model. Is the cigarette lighter working? The odb-ii port gets its power from the cigarette lighter fuse so check that to make sure it is not blown.
