Unhappy oil pressure drops engine temp rises

ok lately i have been having problems with my 97 bonneville 3800 V6. seems like it hesitates to accelerate. every now and then my car just turns itself off. another thing lately the car has had a problem starting up. it tries to turn over but nothing happens. whenever i am driving it and i get to a stop sign or red light the oil pressure drops and then the car starts to cut off until i start to accelerate. a few days ago my car overheated while i was driving. so i turned it off and towed it to my house. something about the ac condenser was locking up or something. there were metal shavings and a loud metal grinding noise. well a friend of my parents bought a replacement and he put it in. now the noise is gone but they said one of the condenser lines busted. now i know i have to have that replaced but i dont know much about cars but will that cause the oil pressure in my car to drop and the engine temp to increase after a few minutes of driving it. its my only way to school and work. i have been reading about problems with 97 bonnevilles. a week ago before this happened i took my car to get an oil change and they said i have a leak in my lower intake. my friends said something about something cracks over time and its a pain in the ass when it happens. i dont know if they were talking about the lower intake or what. im just trying to figure out what they hell i need to do for it. its not leaking coolant. coolant was full. i know i need to recharge the ac since i got that part changed. now im just learning more and more stuff with cars so please dont make me feel real dumb. i took my car to advanced auto parts and they run the little thing for the check engine light and they said its an O2 sensor. so along with the O2 sensor what else might be wrong and what else should i look out for.

Re: oil pressure drops engine temp rises

This sure sounds like the infamous upper intake manifold (UIM) leak, where the EGR tube has burned a hole in the UIM. When this happens, coolant is sucked into the upper intake manifold by way of the burned hole in the intake passage. Do a pressure test of the cooling system to be sure its the plenum. We have many threads here on this subject and you can do a search to find more info. If you have any problem using the search function, let us know.

i just had a similar problem, my car was leaking coolant internally. took it to teh shop had to get the intake manifold fixed, new egr valve, and a new computer because the egr fried my computer. it cost me about nine hundred to fix the problem.

Never heard of this one before! There is no way an EGR can fry a computer!
