i'm mad...grrrrr, $*@^!*?@ cops

2 winters ago i got clear tails. got pulled over 3 times from x-mas eve to new year's eve. this is what basically happened....1 pair of LED brake lights not bright enough red. added another pair (4 total) now it's red but we have nothing red reflective on the tail. cz_r sent us some of the same refelctors he used....then the cops went back to the red wasn't bight enough when it lit up. so i got rid of them.

RedRacerCivic just offered his tails for sale to me. i jumped all over it...

they got here yesterday so i stuck them right on. later on i met up with jer for lunch and then he took the si back to work to adjust the bumper. on his way him he got pulled over and a fix-it ticket

apparently..."white is for reverse lights only. some of the white bulb that lights the red was spilling over to the clear part making it glow"

that is so lame. now i'm on a mission. i WILL NOT STOP until mission complete. we need to figure out a way to make the clear not light up. maybe a piece of white plastic or something on the interior side of the lense?

just had to vent for a moment.....goddamnshitfuckitalltohell....

okay, ifeel better now

Here is the actual law ami
The thing is with clear taillights, this light spilling over shit, isnt the law. Thats just bullshit the cop gave you
THE REAL law for taillights, there has to be a amber deflector inside of the housing to make them legal. Just a clear lense with a red bulb is about 1/3 as bright as a tail light with a amber deflector. I have a set of clear tail lights right beside my desk here, and have been trying to figure out how I can do it also........
FUCK heh

That is messed up if a cop has to harrass you over a tail light. I could understand if you were racing and got pulled over but for tails..come on. cops need to calm down a little and stop real crimes like murder not lights. as for your idea maybe just throw on your stock lights when the cops come by and say yeah i fixed them and then just change them again when they leave.

the cop told jer to stick the stocks on and have the fix-it waved. then stick the red/clears back on and take our chances. but that is lame.

i'm gonna figure something out. because it is not right there so so much harrassment over something so little.

Each state has it's own rules. Oregon vehicle laws are funny (I am from CA), reverse lights are optional, but if you have them, they can only be on when you are in reverse. That's how they gave you the ticket.

my bad. you misunderstood me not that i always make sense

what the cop said to jer was lame. of course he suggests sticking them back on and taking the chances.....he knows damn well his chances are better than mine.

90EX, thank you. i was going to say.....Laker i'm not sure you understand what they were saying. ever taken apart a stock taillight? it's not the housing that is red reflective. the problem they have with the red/clears is that the slightest glow came from the clear which gives them cause enough to claim it looks like a reverse light.

marked001...you can't exactly divide it :finger: the bulb is right in the middle. so i need to find something to keep light from ever omitting from the clear area. i kinda already have the idea what i want to do. i guess what i really need to do is find a way to get them open without breaking them.

any suggestions?????
