odd stall out

allright, ive got a 97 z24. i just got the car a week or so ago, and ive had a few cavaliers. anyways. normally i drive in town, but i took it on the highway today i was about 20 miles into my voyage when my car suddenly dropped speed, the motor died so i veered off of the road and it sputtered to a stop. i tried cranking the engine to no avail. so i sat for a second. then tried to start it and it would run with a REALLY bad idle - like it was trying to find a good idle speed but it would not stay running. luckily a freind of mine was on his way home from work saw me on the side of the road and towed me to his house where i let it sit for an hour or so, and it started right up (after letting the battery charge up a bit) - i have an aftermarket head and my oxygen sensors arent exactly happy. i changed my fuel filter today and have been running 93 octane since i got it, i recently changed the oil, steering fluid, and coolant. oh, i was going full throttle before it happened too... somewhere along the lines of 90-95. any ideas would be great! thanks in advance

Re: odd stall out

i know its a little late after you posted but i had the same exact problem with my '97 RS, turns out i had some water in ym system, have you tried putting some dry gas into your system? at first i replaced the filter too, turned that sucker upside down and you wouldn't believe the amount of water in it, your feul pump may als be the problem, perhaps even bad sparks/spark wires

Re: odd stall out

Wow, haven't seen you post in some time.

Honestly, there is no reason to run 93 octane. I'm going to suggest its a fuel/ spark issue.

Throwing any codes?

pull the plugs and see what they look like. If they are wet as hell, its an ignition issue or if they are white colored more so fuel related from running lean.
