throttle body spacer

Anyone have any experience, pro's or con's, with a throttle body spacer? Sounds like a good idea, but are they anygood? You can get them from Summit, Jcwhitney...even Autozone has them. Any help would be appreciated...thanx

spacers work in different ways depending on what you use it for, and in conjunction with. you may not notice a difference with say a throttle body spacer, but you never know until you dyno and if you can get it cheap or make it yourself and gain 1hp, thats still a gain. when I had my Tempo i was in the process of making a phenolic spacer to go between the upper and lower intake manifolds, but now that its permanently parked, i may take the phenolic sheet that I bought and hopefully i can cut a spacer to go between the intake manifold and the head. won't be a huge gain, but it will keep hte air cooler and give small pwer increases. if you do go with an intake spacer tho, don't go too thick b/c you will lose torque

They arent cheap, thier like $100, but i hadnt thought about losing torque from it...they dont have enough torque to begin with, i dont need to lose anymore....thanx

The only person I know that has used a throttle body spacer has a full size chevy truck. He had really good results as far as gas mileage. Thats on a V-8 though, I doubt you would see a big difference on our cars. Now if you put in an entire system of cyclone system parts, throttle body spacer, cyclone intake, intake manifold spacer and what ever else you can find will help quite a bit all together.

by cyclone do you mean that insert you put into like your intake thats supposed to swirl the air, b/c if so thats the biggest waste of money you can do... as for hte spacer being 100 bucks, wow, thats a rip off. i bet oyu can find much better deals and if not, you can make your own with even just a thick piece of aluminum. but plkelley has a point, i don't know aht difference these things will make on such a small engine

on another D series message board, a guy used several types of throttle body spacers on hondas only to lose power each time. (verified by dyno). I do not think it is worth the money at all.

Yes the cyclone is a waste of money if you compare price to gain, but it does work. I just dont know how much on our little engines.

ok i'm not sure we are talking about the same thing. i thought you were talking about the Tornado Air thing, basically like this http://www.tornadoair.com/ which looks just like a cut up coke can that supposably gives more power, but only does in carbed vehicles, not all like they say... what is the cyclone?

they have been proven time and time again to be nothing but an intake restriction, i don't have the sites at my fingertips, but tomorrow if i have time i will post some, they don't anything, biggest waste of 100+ bucks you can get, get nitrous if you want quick power

Throttle body spacers are usually for big chevy v8's and stuff, we wont see any gains in our cars, and its the same exact concept as the TORNADO, the piece of shit that will most likely get sucked into your throttle body.......
