Question About Replaceing 91 Mercury Sable Headlight Assemblies

I been trying to find replacement headlight assemblies for a 91 Mercury Sable. The lights have become clouded and visibility is terrible. Does anyone know of a place to find these? Also, does anyone happen to know if Mercury Topaz 91 or 92 headlight assemblies will fit the Sable? By the pictures they look to be the same or very similar. Thanks.

Re: Question About Replaceing 91 Mercury Sable Headlight Assemblies

I did some serious hunting and couldn't find a generation one Sable headlight assembly anywhere. 92 and up, no problem. I would suggest buffing out the ones you have. Search the forums for the how-to, it has been talked about many times. Maybe the Taurus Car Club has someone that could help. www.taurusclub.com
I would think the Topaz had a different mounting, but I don't know for sure.

Re: Question About Replaceing 91 Mercury Sable Headlight Assemblies

There are two (2) ways to get the currently installed ones looking better.

1) The buffing method (noted previously).... removing them from the car then utilizing different grades of sandpaper and soapy water etc....lots of work there, but it apparently does work. An on-line search turned up a nice, but cumbersome "how-to."

2) Products offered for sale specifically for the de-yellowing purpose. Many out there...not sure which ones work better than others, but they are there for the buying. Again...use your search engine to see what is being offered.
