knocking sound....

hey guys. i got a 2001 auto z28 with 85k on it. love the car, but when you are cruising along and goose it a little bit you can hear some kind of knocking/rattling sound. any ideas? it also does it at WOT too, really loud. but the car runs fine, well, except for that.

Re: knocking sound....

Hundreds of possibities, my three guess's are tranny/spark plugs/piston knocking, so throw it into nuetral, if it does nuetral its not your tranny, so its either piston or spark plugs, if you feel a slight studder while driving its spark if you here a discrete tap or knock it could be a piston.
