Re: 1999 Voyager
Is the airbag light on by chance?
Sounds to me that the clockspring is faulty thus your cruise control and horn do not work. There should be a recall on the clockspring, call your local dealer to check it out. |

Re: 1999 Voyager
The clockspring is a ribbon wire that is coiled up inside the steering column. Once you remove the airbag module and the steering wheel, it is usually the very next component stacked in the column. It delivers current to all of the systems mentioned above, airbag, cruise control and horn. When it fails (and they do a lot) the wire breaks leaving the circuit open and inoperative. This will cause the airbag light to come on and shut down the system. As long as that light is on, the airbags will NOT deploy, even in an accident.
This was a factory recall and many customers are unaware of that. Contact your local dealer and they will accommodate the replacement for you. Re: 1999 Voyager
Just wanted to add, (I have a thread on my 1999 voyager failing emission tests), that I DID look the recall up and MY dealer (smyrna, ga) was hem-haw-ing around with NOT doing this, and quoting from a document saying cars over 70,000 would not qualify !), I got somewhat loud with the service guy (a kid under 30) and he gave in and said they would replace it...AND also, I took my car in a week earlier and they did not bother to see if the car had any recalls, a co-worker alerted me of it !!!
