Smile Tire Size

Got an 01 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT Quad Cab short bed (standard), I was wondering whats that max size tire I could put on this truck without doing any modification, it currently has 245/75r16 like to go bigger and wider with no rubbing while turning or bouncing. It looks like it has alot more room.

Re: Tire Size

If you have a 4wd the max tire size is
Stock height: 265/75R16 (this is the stock tire size).
Probably OK: 285/75R16, 235/85R16, 255/85R16, 32/11.50-16.5
With a 2-3" lift: 33/12.5-16.5, 315/75R16
With a 4" Lift: 35/12.5-16.5

I am currently running P285/75R16 and I rub at full lock on my control arms.

If you have 2wd then If you go with anything larger than a 31 x 9.5 x 16, you will have "rubbing" on your front tires when in tight turns.

Re: Tire Size

with that size tire you would need a 2" or 3" coil spacer to clear with no rubbing due to the width of the cross section.

Re: Tire Size

yes you can clear that tire size no problem. It was a factory optional tire size for an upgrade.

Re: Tire Size

Re: Tire Size

I personally don't hear too much about 275/75R16 tire size being available. The most common sizes are the 265/75R16 and 285/75R16. But since my 285s don't rub too much I would say the 275s will fit no rub. They just may be more expensive then the 265s and 285s since it is not as a common size.
