Sunfire Transmission Dipstick

I don't know, or maybe I'm blind, but darnned if I can find the Transmission Dipstick on my 2005 Sunfire. There is a black plastic cap at the rear of the motor on the top of the torque converter which screws out but there isn't any measuring device on it.
Thanks for any ideas
Willis

Re: Sunfire Transmission Dipstick

My info shows you don't have a transaxle dipstick, automatic transaxle, 4t40e? There probably is an inspection plug, I saw a location, it was for a different year--make-- model. It was for a 4t40e transaxle. You might look down low by the halfshaft on the passenger side, 7/16 plug? Don't unplug anything if your not sure.

You might call your local dealer and talk to the service department, just to be sure, they can be helpful, when they want to be.

Hmm probably why I didn't find one. Yes it's an automatic but I have no idea of the trans model. So how is a body to know when the trans fluid is down or where to add some fluid?

I think I'll leave well enough alone and take your advice. I have a friend who runs a transmission shop, I'll drop in and ask him about it. However it never hurts to just have a good look
Thanks

Re: Sunfire Transmission Dipstick

On newer cars the trans dipstick is a specialty tool. Only dealers and trans shops can check the level. Some trannys are good for life and are sealed from the factory.
